The Pastoral Care Team at Christ Church does its best to care for our community by being personally present in times of difficulty and crisis. We accomplish this in two ways:

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs)

There are those within the church who, for various reasons, are unable to join the community in worship on Sunday mornings.  That’s where our Lay Eucharistic Ministers come into play.

LEMs are simply members of our church who love to visit these people, summarize the sermon message, and share communion with them.  This is one of those under-the-radar ministries that is living out the presence of Jesus in a very practical way.

Chaplain Ministry

Our Chaplain Ministry consists of specifically trained lay ministers who provide on-call hospital visitation and support to our parishioners.  If you or a loved one has a surgery coming up and would like a chaplain to come and pray with you before or after, please contact Amanda Goin Burgess at or 913.648.2271 x100.  We generally do not make visits without permission.
