In the spring of 1959, a small group of people gathered for worship in a rented space. They were the founders of what has become Christ Church Anglican – a congregation still flourishing today at the corner of 91st and Nall in Overland Park.
Early in 2015, our Senior Pastor, Patrick Wildman, asked Nick Comiskey to lead the effort in planting a new congregation in NE Johnson County. Its mission would be the same: to be a people fully alive in God’s Kingdom.
Throughout the spring and summer of 2016, Nick formed a team to give shape to this new community and, after talking with civic, business, and educational leaders in the area, decided that the City of Mission would be an ideal center for ministry. We opened our doors on Sunday, September 18, 2016.
Christ Church Mission now meets every Sunday morning at The Mission Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Mission. Worship begins at 9:30am and our Café opens directly following the service.
We hope to see you soon!
HOW TO CONNECT
The earliest Christians met together each week as friends – joining in prayer, Scripture, song, and sharing a holy meal in the presence of God.
We share in this tradition every Sunday morning. Worship begins at 9:30am; our Café opens directly following the service.
To get a feel for the basic framework we’ll follow in weekly worship and learn how the Christian Calendar impacts the way we worship, watch the videos below.
Our mission as a church is to be a community fully alive in God’s Kingdom. Of course that can take on a lot of different forms, but what is central to this mission is the fact that Jesus offers us a new kind of life – a life that is defined by hope, joy, and peace.
Take a look at the some of the videos below to not only get to know our team better, but to get a glimpse of what it means to be a community coming fully alive.
