Food Collection & Blood Drive
Hey Christ Church!
Today I want to tell you about two great ways to make an impact in our city (and beyond) during this pandemic! Christ Church is focusing our efforts around two projects in the weeks to come.
1. Food Drive – We are partnering with our friends at Freedom Fire in doing a food collection for children and families living in and around federal housing in KC. Freedom Fire is asking for care packages that contain THESE ITEMS. Simply purchase the items on the list from the grocery store (or have them delivered to your house) and put them together in a paper bag or box. You can drop off those bags at Christ Church Overland Park or Christ Church Mission on Saturday, May 9 from 10am – noon. We will take care of delivering the packages to Freedom Fire for distribution.
Food insecurity has become an even larger issue in Kansas City during this pandemic, and your donation will be such a blessing to those being greatly impacted by the crisis.
2. Blood Drive – On Wednesday, May 20 from 11am – 4pm, Christ Church will host a Blood Drive for the Red Cross at the Overland Park location. As the COVID-19 public health crisis continues, the blood supply for patients is being uniquely challenged. This is a great way for us to help our community. If you’d like to participate, simply sign up for a time-slot HERE. The Red Cross staff will ensure that all requirements for sanitization and social distancing are upheld during the drive.
Also, feel free to forward the sign-up link to friends! This Blood Drive is open to the community.
Jesus’ church has had a reputation since its inception for being a community of people who come to the aid of those who are suffering in the world. In this unique world crisis, we have an opportunity to do the same. I hope that you’ll partner with us on these initiatives.
Have a great week!
