Maundy Thursday

Maundy, from the Latin word meaning “command,” is a celebration of the Passover meal at which Jesus gave the command to love one another when he washed his disciples’ feet and also instituted what has become known to us as the Lord’s Supper, or Holy Communion.

In Overland Park, we’ve had a rhythm for many years of gathering on Thursday evening for what some say is their “favorite service of the year.” In this spirit, be encouraged to join us in worship from your home this evening as we reflect on what it means to imitate the servant King.

Liturgy for a Maundy Thursday Meal

Since Christ Church Mission doesn’t have access to the Theatre on Thursdays, they have created a wonderfully different tradition.  Instead of a service, they send out a Maundy Thursday resource to be used in a home around a table.

Below you’ll find a PDF that can be used at your dinner table by yourself, with your whole family, or with friends online. You can eat a meal, read scripture, and reflect on Jesus’ last night before his betrayal and arrest.
