Some Good News

Greetings in Jesus’ name!

As I mentioned in the video above, I have more good news to share and, while good news is always welcome, we really need it this week. Let me share two things:

First, we will soon be able to come together in groups for prayer, Scripture reading, and Communion. This is very exciting since our last gathering was at our March 11th Life Group evening. Please make every effort to view this Sunday’s worship video as we will provide more details at that time.

Second, as most of you know, our ControllerMarie Drummond, is retiring on July 15th after almost 27 years of service. I am excited that Marie will soon have much more time and freedom to enjoy her family and do the things that she wants to do. But while I am happy for Marie, her departure did create the anxiety of wondering who will we find to fill her shoes?

Well, the Lord has provided in an amazing way with someone right here in our own church. With great joy, I announce that Kim Dekker has accepted an offer to become the Controller of Christ Church effective July 1st. This provides Kim two weeks of overlap with Marie for training purposes. Kim and her husband Kris have been a part of Christ Church for almost 20 years. Both of them, and their three children, are immersed in the life of our community.

Kim served on the Parish Council for 6 years and, during that time, she also served as our Treasurer and Finance Team Chair, working closely with Marie. Professionally, Kim has over 22 years of accounting experience in both the public and private spheres, working many years at Ernst & Young and most recently serving as the accountant for Kansas City Christian School.

Kim is absolutely the perfect fit for this job. She is more than professionally qualified and is already very familiar with our financial systems. Marie is delighted that Kim has taken the position, and Tom Horner, our Executive Director of Stewardship and Planned Giving, is eager to work with her in overseeing the financial life of our church. We’re losing a superstar in Marie, and the Lord has provided another superstar to take her place. Thanks be to God!

Remember to join us in worship on video this Sunday as we will discuss more about our upcoming gatherings.

Blessings to you. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Have a great day!

Patrick
