I am a native of Overland Park and grew up just a few blocks from Christ Church. My wife, Shelly, and I were married at Christ Church in 1983 and it has been our church home ever since.
I came to faith during the very first offering of the Alpha Course here. That experience has given me a passion for introducing others to Jesus and deepening their relationship with Him through Life Groups.
As the Executive Director of Stewardship & Planned Giving, I get the opportunity to lead a vibrant team of parishioners who share a passion for “whole life stewardship.” Our mission is to encourage members to grow as disciples as we learn to be more generous with our time, talent, and treasure.
I feel very blessed for this opportunity, having recently retired from running a family business for 30 years. I was wondering what I was going to do with myself … then I received this call. This position gives me an opportunity to use my gifts in an area I feel passionate about.
My wife and I enjoy traveling and doing almost anything outdoors – gardening, fishing, hunting, golf, etc. I also enjoy sporting events and live music. Shelly and I are blessed to have all three of our grown sons living in the area, one of whom attends Christ Church Mission with his wife and son. The extended Horner family can often be found spending quality time together during the concert season at a local venue.
