FALL 2023
7-week session | Week of Sept. 11 – Week of Oct. 23rd
David is a towering figure in the Old Testament.
From his humble beginnings as a young shepherd, David rose to become Israel’s second and most beloved king. Despite his legacy (as a king, musician, and poet), David is hardly the picture of morality. His story is a mixed bag of successes and failures, faithfulness and rebellion.
At his best, David is a foreshadowing of the righteousness and kingship of Jesus. At his worst, he is a cautionary tale of sin’s effects.
Ultimately, David’s life is a picture of how the faithful love of God meets us in the messiness of our ordinary lives. As we explore David’s life, we seek to discover how “God-shaped, God-influenced, God-graced these storied lives of ours in fact are.” (from Leap Over A Wall by Eugene Peterson)
What are Life Groups?
Life Groups are the primary place we share life with others and go deeper in faith. Typically made up of 8 – 12 people, Life Groups share the practices of eating, learning, and praying together. Some groups are cross-generational while others consist of people in a similar stage of life.
Three sessions throughout the year (typically 5-7 weeks long) provide natural “onramps” for people to get connected to a group. During each session, groups enjoy a meal together and dive into a study connected to a sermon series or other topic.
When a session ends, groups may take a break or opt to continue meeting for community building, service in the city, or further study and prayer.
When & Where Do Groups Meet?
Groups meet on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at both our Overland Park and Mission locations. Groups also meet on other days/times of the week. There is limited children’s programming on Tuesdays, but full programming as well as Student Life on Wednesday evenings.
Advanced registration is required for onsite groups.
