for students beginning in 6th grade and older

The Purpose of Confirmation

“In the course of their Christian development, those baptized at an early age are expected,
when they are ready and have been duly prepared, to make a mature public affirmation of their faith
and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism …”
(Book of Common Prayer p.412)

Each year we invite students, beginning in 6th grade (though older students often participate at well), who were baptized as babies to engage in a fun, shaping, and strenuous process of Confirmation.

There are many aspects to the process, but they broadly fit into three categories.

  1. Gathering monthly to learn more about what it means to follow Christ.
  2. The completion of 15 interactive assignments designed to help connect them to the larger church.
  3. Meeting on a regularly basis (usually monthly) with a sponsor who helps disciple them to walk the path of Christ.

This significant process in a student’s faith beginning in November and runs until some time in May.  At that time, students confirm their faith in a special service where our bishop is able to pray for them and bless them.
