Making Space for What We Dismiss

Easter Greetings in Jesus’ name!

I hope you are well. I was able to get away for a few days last week to, yes, go fishing. It was very fun and relaxing, and I now have a freezer full of walleye fillets. I’m grateful that we have such wonderful staff and clergy which allows me to be gone without worrying. We are blessed to have a great team.

There are two things I want to share with you this morning about things going on this
weekend. First, we are hosting a free seminar tomorrow from 10:00am – 11:30am called “Making Space for What We Dismiss.” Some of us dismiss emotions, experiences, etc. for the sake of productivity or simply seeming strong and put-together. This seminar is all about embracing our experiences honestly and honoring our stories. It will be hosted on Zoom by Amanda, our Pastor of Community Care, and Marriage & Family Counselor, Steven Sweat. Some of you know the Sweats who were members of Christ Church before moving to Lawrence. Steven has great insights and experience. If you would like the Zoom link to attend, simply email Amanda at amandalgoin@gmail.com.

Second, I look forward to our worship on Sunday when we will deal with one of the most important tenants of the Christian faith – the resurrection of the body. In our passage, Luke 24:36-48, Jesus goes to great lengths to prove to his disciples that he is not a ghost; his physical body was actually resurrected. We will dig into this passage so that we can understand why this is vitally important to our faith.

Have a great day and keep your eyes on Jesus.

Blessings,
Patrick
